Hello folks!
It’s that time of year (the start) where we talk about how the last 12 months have been for the club, and what the next 12 months might look like.
2025 was a big year. Like, really big.
Events
More Events than Ever
As you can see here, 2025 was a record year for Mini Myths for events. We essentially ran an event of some kind every two weeks! Here’s the stats:
- 21 One-Day Events.
- 1 Two-Day Grand Tournament.
- 2 Leagues and out very first Circuit.
- 7 different games played.
- 5 different venues.
Before we talk about anything else, I want to really highlight what made this possible: the amazing support of our members who chose to organize and run events. Without them, we’d have run half as many events - it’s a massive effort and I couldn’t be more thankful for the following folks:
- Nathan ran three
Infinity (N5) events alongside Chris G, and our first ever
Blood Bowl league, and capped off the year with an
Age of Sigmar (4th Edition) event!
- Chaedi continued to keep our
Warhammer 40,000 (10th Edition) calendar nice and full with the awesome Dadhammer league, and three events!
- Juan showed us all the magic of
wormsant-eaters with not just one, but twoThis Quar's War events - did we mention they’re the biggest Quar events ever in Victoria?
Bigger Events than Ever
We had quite a few big events, but just to shout out a couple that really stood out:
- We hosted our very first Official Grand Tournament for
Star Wars: Shatterpoint !
Duel of the Fates 2025 welcomed a whopping 28 players, and was also our first two-day event!
War for Werribee 2025, our annual
Marvel Crisis Protocol welcomed 23 players, and was our first time running an event at a community center!
Chaos Nights was officially our biggest ever
Warhammer 40,000 (10th Edition) event, with 14 players competing over 6 rounds. An absolute ton of games! (thanks again Chaedi!)
We also ran events at more locations than ever before:
Guf Werribee continues to be the home of Mini Myths, with 14 events!
Gaming Arena showed us incredible support, hosting a total of 7 events!
- For the first time, we hosted events at
Games Portal and at Djerring Community Center!
Club Progress
In the 2025 Update video that we posted last year, we shared a few goals we had for the club in 2025. Below, I’ll break them down and rate how we did achieving these.
Swag
In the video, I identified that we really wanted to do more merchandise and gaming gear. This is an odd one, as it both totally happened and also really didn’t happen.
For example, did you know we actually have a new merch store?
We launched the new store back in October, but haven’t really shared it beyond a few key events. This is mainly because, frankly, I’m not happy with the pricing. We’re getting these items made as cheap as we possibly can, but the escalating cost of goods and shipping mean that it’s really still not where I’d like it to be.
We’ll continue to develop merch in 2026, and I’ve even picked up some equipment to hopefully print my own garments in the future (be ready for some absolute disasters in this space).
Discord
We promised to review roles, and fix up our Discord guidelines - and we did! You’ll find new guidelines on the website, and we updated our System Champions and Moderator teams. We’ll do another review of this in 2026, too.
Not-For-Profit Structure
Well, we did it! We incorporated as a Not-For-Profit, and already have begun to see the benefits of that structure. We were able to hire the Djerring Community Center in Point Cook for the War for Werribee 2025 event using NFP rates, making it finally affordable for us to host events at spaces like this.
I should note, we are on the lookout for more venues to hire. If you know of a great venue that would be a good fit, let me know!
Club Membership
This is probably the biggest ‘didn’t happen’ of 2025.
I truly believe that paying to be a member of a club should be something that comes with some sort of benefits. There are other Wargaming clubs in Melbourne that charge a membership, but the majority of those provide a play space, or regular meetups. We’re a little different - we don’t have our own space, or a dedicated gathering night.
We considered offering discounted event tickets, but the truth is that our events are too diverse for this to be really meaningful unless you play Shatterpoint of 40k. I want something that’s a benefit to everyone, so we decided to hold off a little longer.
To be totally clear, Memberships are absolutely on the cards for 2026, but probably won’t happen until we’ve managed to find a venue where we could run semi-regular meetups.
Armies on Parade
As you surely noticed, AOP25 didn’t happen - I wrote in a lot of detail as to why here. I’m looking forward to our 2026 event, though!
2026 and Beyond
Soon, you’ll recieve the 2025 feedback survey, which we’ll use to determine our grand plans for 2026. 2026 is going to be a big year for a few reasons, but a new 40k edition in particular always brings an absolute ton of action, and we’ve already begun planning.
If you read this far, thanks for coming - I can’t wait to hang out and game with you all this year, and thank you so much for supporting the club and being a part of this absolutely wonderful community.
