FAQ
Is there a minimum price or number of models for a commission?
We have no minimum price - however, we require a minimum of 10 models for commissions that are at the Tabletop+ tier, and a minimum of 5 models for commissions that are at the Showcase tier.
Do I need to provide all the models or can you acquire them for me?
We can order models on your behalf, subject to availability. If we can acquire the models, we'll provide you with a price included in our quote. The price of these models would be required when you pay your initial deposit.
Do I need to supply my miniatures in any specific condition?
Ideally, your miniatures are assembled and ready to be primed - this allows us to spend the maximum amount of time on painting your models to the best of our ability.
However, that's not a requirement! We'll accept models that are unassembled, already primed, or even in some cases if they're partially painted - however, keep in mind the following:
With unassembled models, we'll adjust the price to account for the time it takes to carefully assemble each of your miniatures. We'll provide this ahead of time, so you can decide if you'd rather assemble them yourself.
We're happy to paint miniatures that are already primed, but the primer colour should match the colour you'd like the models painted in - for example, a Blood Angels commission should be primed red.
Due to the risk of models being damaged, we wont strip paint from your models if they've already had paint applied. We can paint over or touch up existing paint work, but we'll discuss this with you ahead of time and come up with a plan.
What are the overall costs and when do I pay? Do I pay for paints, postage, etc?
We'll provide an itemized quote before we start any work, so there are absolutely no hidden costs. In general, you'll be charged a rate for each model in the commission, which covers all our labour and all or supplies - you won't pay for paints or any other hobby supplies.
If you'd prefer we use any specific supplies, such as a specific paint or basing material, we're generally happy to use whatever you provide.
We prefer to hand-deliver all commissions. We won't charge you for collecting your commission, and we're also happy to organize drop-off in the Western Suburbs. If you'd prefer it delivered anywhere else in Melbourne, we'll include a delivery fee in your quote.
Do I have to pay the full amount up front?
We require a partial payment in the form of a deposit before we start work on any commission. For most commissions, we ask for a deposit of 50% of the total commission price. This deposit is fully refundable before the start date of your commission, which is listed in your quote.
For larger commissions (usually $500 or more), we might offer the option of a smaller deposit payment in lieu of milestone payments. In these cases, we'll work with you to determine milestone dates where the next part of the payment is required.
Our mission is to deliver an awesome end product on a budget that's fair and fits your needs. If you have concerns around payment structure, please feel free to get in touch - we'd love to work with you to come up with something that fits your needs.
How much of my payment goes to the painter?
At this time, Mini Myths does not take any payment for facilitating the commission service. This might change in the future, but for now our goal is simply to enable players and painters to link up and work together. After any shipping or payment processing fees, the painter receives the full remaining amount of the payment.
If you've opted to include any additional Mini Myths services in your commission, such as photography, Mini Myths receives this payment.
What's the timeframe for my commission to be completed?
We'll provide an estimated completion date alongside your initial quote.
If that timeline changes, we'll always let you know immediately. If you have a specific event or date that you need your commission completed by, you'll be able to let us know when we finalize your quote.
