Picking up a new faction is always daunting, but there's extra pressure on the line when the faction itself is fresh off the assembly line. Matt initially started collecting Leagues of Votann with the hopes of playing them in Kill Team - however, he quickly fell in love with these stout, brave warriors and decided to expand his collection.
As a photographer, it's rare to follow someone's army from inception, so there's an extra spark of excitement photographing this army. I've seen Matt experiment with his scheme, try different things as he moved from unit to unit, and finally land on this stunning little combat patrol that's as diverse as it is meticulous.
The Hekaton Land Fortress steals the show. The edge highlighting is absolutely sublime, and the chrome details add a new colour to the palette of the army that reminiscent of the gold used elsewhere, but still feels fresh. I also have a soft spot for the Hearthguard. Matt chose to paint them in a predominantly black scheme so that they would stand out as special operatives, and that gamble has absolutely paid off - they're intimidating and unique, but still match his army perfectly with their teal accents.
This army is a labour of love, and I'm proud to have it featured here on the site. I hope you enjoy.
