While we fight so many of our greatest battles across tiny, tiny battlefields, the real fight is the one we share with a paint brush! Come join our next painting competition for 2024!
For this event, you'll select a single model from your collection (or purchase something new) and have six short weeks to get it painted up! Just enough time to do your best work, we hope! At the end of that six weeks, the judges will pick a few winners and we'll celebrate the amazing hobby efforts of our community.

The Theme: Fluoro
This Purple Palette is all about Fluoro and it's bright, high-contrast aesthetic! Show us your fluoro paint, vibrant colour and/or object source lighting. Consider being inspired by glow in the dark looks, neon signage, and fluorescent paints.
Assemble, and then Paint Your Heart Out!
Based on feedback from the first Purple Palette event, we’ve made entering easier — no requirement to purchase a brand new model this time!
- You can use any miniature, as long as it meets requirements. Must be unpainted or primed only when entered.
- Base size: ≤100mm and ≤130mm tall. Must use included base if supplied. Overhang max 50% of base size.
- No sculpting or 3D printing allowed. Kitbashing and decals are allowed.
- Entry form (on Mini Myths site) required with: photo of unpainted mini (with name & date), personal details, entry name, and media opt-in.
- Your piece must represent the theme in some way — this is the most important judging criteria.
- Unsure? Reach out on Facebook or Discord.
Judging Criteria
Judges will score each category (10 points each, total = 50 points):
- Execution — How do all elements work together? What is the overall result?
- Technique — How well are fundamental skills (blending, shading, highlighting, etc.) applied?
- Character — Does it have identity, “wow factor,” or impact?
- Theme Representation — Is the theme clear and well-integrated?
- Personal Style — Does the contestant’s own style come through?
Feedback
- All entrants receive their criteria scores within one week.
- Contestants may contact organizers for judges’ written feedback.
Advice
- Decide on a setting; the feel is as important as technique.
- Tell a story — final effect matters more than method.
- Make your piece “speak for itself” (focal points: face, chest, weapons).
- Don’t rely only on sculpted detail — creativity matters most.
- Size isn’t everything — even 25mm models can impress.
- Choose a model you’re passionate about.
- Share progress with friends for feedback.
- Above all — have fun!
Prizes
Prizes reward more entrants across multiple categories:
- Top Score — Highest average judge score.
- Most Improved — Biggest improvement vs. previous Purple Palette entry.
- Community Vote — Attendees pick their three favourite entries.
- Best Character — Strongest “wow factor” and execution.
- Best Newcomer — Highest scoring first-time entrant.
- Best Under 18’s — Highest score in youth entries.
Note: Each entrant can only win one prize. If eligible for multiple, they receive the most valuable prize, and a runner-up is chosen for the other.
