It is time for the long awaited return of Purple Palette! For this event you must paint a single miniature that comes supplied from the manufacturer on a square/round base no bigger than 28mm. Plinths will be allowed for basing but may not exceed 35mm in width/diameter.

Rules
- You must paint a miniature from a retail manufacturer (GW, AMG, Warlord, etc.). You may not use a 3D printed mini unless it is purchased from a retail manufacturer.
- The model must come with a supplied square/round base no bigger than 28mm in diameter.
- You may rebase the mini to another base or replace the base with a display plinth, but it must not exceed 35mm in width/diameter.
- 3D printed and sculpted accessories are accepted such as heads/weapons or adornments.
- Back drops are allowed for your miniature but you must disclose if AI was used to generate the image.
- Transfers are allowed.
- Your piece will be judged anonymously by the community and a team of judges.
- You are welcome to add a nameplate to your piece to give it a title. This is your only opportunity to communicate your work.
- Basing is completely freeform. Go nuts with it.
- Have Fun! Make sure you are going to paint something you will enjoy.
- This is an amateur painting competition. Please use this as an experience to experiment and learn from your work.
Judging Criteria
We have some revised criteria for this specific Purple Palette. Each category is worth 10 points, for a total possible tally of 50 points.

Brushwork and Execution | Evaluates technical mastery. Judges look for flawlessly smooth blends, sharp edge highlights, precise Non-Metallic Metal (NMM) or True Metallic Metal (TMM) effects, and the absence of brush strokes or unintended texture. | 10 |
Color Theory and Scheme | Judges assess how colors interact. This includes contrast (light vs. dark, warm vs. cold), saturation, and how the color choices guide the viewer's eye to the miniature's focal point. | 10 |
Basing and Environment | A model's base should complement the miniature rather than distract from it. Judges look for cohesive environmental storytelling, realistic textures (mud, water, pigments), and a cleanly finished rim (often painted black). | 10 |
Creativity and Conversions | This rewards imagination. It covers unique freehand designs, creative kitbashing (combining parts from different kits), and scratch-built elements that elevate the model beyond its stock pose. | 10 |
Craftsmanship and Cleanliness | The foundational build quality is crucial. Judges will immediately deduct points if they spot visible mold lines, plastic/resin gaps, or leftover sprue attachment marks. | 10 |

The judges will give you a score for each of these categories. Each category is worth 10 points, giving you a total possible points tally of 50.
Judging will take place on October 9th (Guf Hobby Night). Anyone attending can community vote and judges will resolve feedback. Feedback to be supplied to contestants.
